What should I inspect when buying a used container in Hong Kong?
First explain whether the container is for storage or export cargo, then check its identity, age and recent photographs. Review corner posts, roof, side panels, door locks, seals, floor, underframe, corrosion and repairs, including signs of leaks, odours or contamination. Equipment photographs do not replace a physical inspection or guarantee current stock. Inspection method, timing and costs require individual confirmation.
Are haulage, lifting and placement included in the price?
Do not assume they are included. Provide the Hong Kong delivery address, container type, quantity and preferred date, together with access, height restrictions, unloading position and site conditions. Haulage, lifting, waiting and other site costs must be specified in the formal quotation. Site suitability and placement arrangements must also be checked first.
Can a purchased SOC container automatically be shipped?
SOC means Shipper Owned Container; it is not a condition grade. Before buying for export, check the carrier's acceptance requirements for the route and booking. Container photographs, CSC plate photographs and other documents may be required. A completed purchase does not mean approval for loading; applicable inspections and documents must be verified for each unit.
What is the difference between CW, WWT and IICL condition?
CW (Cargo Worthy) focuses on structural suitability for carrying cargo. WWT (Wind and Water Tight) focuses on weather-tightness, commonly for storage, and does not by itself establish export suitability. IICL refers to industry inspection and repair criteria, not a grade determined only by age or appearance. Supplier terminology can differ: specify the standard, inspection findings and repair scope in the quotation. None of these labels replaces applicable CSC requirements or carrier acceptance.
Which Hong Kong locations can make a container sales enquiry?
Customers on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon and in the New Territories can provide their use and location for an enquiry. Supply, collection, haulage and lifting arrangements require individual confirmation. Please identify outlying-island locations, restricted access or special site requirements. The Kwai Chung contact address is an office, not an inspection or collection yard; do not visit it to collect a container.
Can I enquire about movements to or from South China or mainland China?
Our focus is the Hong Kong local market. South China or mainland movements may be enquired about: please provide the origin, destination, type, quantity, use and dates. Feasibility, supply, documentation, costs and transport arrangements require individual confirmation; an enquiry is not a commitment to cross-border supply or delivery.
Can I buy one container?
Yes. Availability, price, location and arrangements are confirmed for the actual offer.
Is every used container suitable for export cargo?
No. Structure, valid plates, inspection and relevant requirements must be verified for the individual unit.
Does a reefer include the unit, PTI and warranty?
The inclusion and scope must be stated in the formal quotation.
Why are fixed prices not published?
Price depends on type, age, condition, unit, location, quantity and delivery conditions.
